Queen Esther
A stage play tells how a black Ethiopian queen delivers her race from genocide in Medo-Persian Empire.
LAGOS , Nigeria —King Ahaserus of Medo Persia dethrones his wife Vashti for disobedience and makes the black Ethiopian Esther his new queen.
The king’s prime minister, Haman, conspires to have all blacks in the empire killed in one day. But he ends up in a gallows he made for Rada, Esther’s black Ethiopian cousin, who is now promoted to the office of prime minister for saving the king.
Queen Esther intercedes for her black race, the Persian law is changed, and blacks are saved from death.
This revisionist play will sure spark controversy for re-writing the Biblical story of the Jews and for the inaccurate rendering of Medo-Persian history. But says Arthur Zulu: “The story remains unchanged.”
The writer was born in Nigeria . He is the author of How to Write a Best-seller, a handbook for writers, and a forthcoming fiction, A Letter to Noah (available through ArthurBookHouse). He presently lives in Nigeria and is the CEO of ArthurBookHouse.
